The City of Topeka is proposing a change in water and wastewater utility rates in order to help repair and replace old and failing infrastructure (ex. water mains, water lines).

The change includes new charges based on meter size (decreased for nearly all residential customers) and an across-the-board increase to volume charges based on the amount of water customers use. The proposed increase is 6-percent in 2015, 5-percent in 2016, and 5-percent in 2017. City utility rates have not been raised since 2011.
